God Doesn't Waste Anything

nothing is wasted in god’s eternal plan

We served for many years in Colombia as missionaries. Health reasons brought us back to the USA but it’s not an understatement to say that we left our hearts there. A few years ago, I was questioning why God took us through language school and adapting to culture, etc. only to bring us back to the States.

Well, if I ever had any doubts, my most recent trip to Colombia answered the questions that I had. I was overwhelmed by what God is doing in Colombia and how He is using Bible Pathways. I sat in rooms with pastors and church leaders and watched God work. I wish I had time to tell you all the stories of how the Lord is using Bible Pathways to transform lives. Here are just a few highlights after only two workshops:

Second training completed in Cali, Colombia.

  • Jason is a former enforcer for a loan shark and has been saved for only a month. He attended the workshop and not only participated but presented his work before the whole group and did a fantastic job. We are excited to see him grow as he feels called to someday go back to his hometown to start a church.

  • Harrison is a church planter working in the region where most of the cocaine and marijuana are grown as well as where paramilitary groups are active. It’s one of the more dangerous places in Colombia. He is working on passing on the Pathways training to other pastors and churches in his area.

  • Juan Carlos is a Colombian missionary who works with indigenous tribes in northeast Colombia. Not only is he training the people he works with, but he has also trained many men in almost 30 Colombian prisons.

  • Jonathan is a highly equipped pastor in a faraway region but has made the effort to come to our workshops. He has not only trained the people at his church but has also trained other pastors and regularly meets with them via Zoom to reinforce their skills.

  • Elías is a pastor in Bogotá. Mike Gunderson and I helped him launch a new network that he led in his church in the capital city. I sat amazed at his ability to facilitate the group, encourage and push each of the participants to progress in their Word work. He finished the first day with one question, “What is one takeaway from what you learned today?”. Each person shared something they learned, and it was wonderful to hear them express how the training and God’s Word was impacting them. I thought to myself, what a great question! I need to end each day during a workshop with that same question.

Bogotá, Colombia pastors and church leaders excited for the second training in September.

God is at work in Colombia, and I can’t wait to go back in September!

Thank you for your prayers and support. Stay tuned to see a video testimony from Norberto, the workshop coordinator!
